Construction support and troubleshooting

Our construction support and troubleshooting services provide timely engineering assistance to contractors, owners, and agencies throughout every stage of pavement construction. We help identify, investigate, and resolve field issues that can impact pavement quality, schedule, and cost. Whether addressing problems with asphalt or concrete production, paving operations, compaction, material quality, segregation, cracking, rutting, moisture damage, or other construction-related challenges, our engineers provide practical, data-driven solutions based on sound engineering principles and industry best practices.

Our services include on-site technical support, construction troubleshooting, quality control and quality assurance reviews, evaluation of field and laboratory test results, root cause investigations, corrective action recommendations, and independent engineering assessments. We work collaboratively with project stakeholders to resolve issues quickly, minimize delays, and ensure that the finished pavement meets performance expectations and applicable project specifications.

Mix design optimization

Is your current asphalt mix design costing more than it should? Is it optimized to remain competitive in today’s bid environment?

Our proprietary mix design optimization program is designed to uncover hidden savings in your existing mix designs while ensuring compliance with performance and specification requirements. We evaluate aggregate blends, asphalt binder content, recycled materials, and material costs to identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality, durability, or constructability. We analyze available aggregate sources, gradations, and material combinations to develop the most economical mix design that satisfies volumetric requirements, performance criteria, and agency specifications.

Whether you are producing mixes for highways, local roads, airports, or commercial projects, our engineering-driven approach can help lower production costs, improve profitability, and increase competitiveness during the bidding process. We also provide independent reviews of existing mix designs, value engineering studies, and recommendations for incorporating reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP), reclaimed asphalt shingles (RAS), ground tire rubber (GTR), warm mix asphalt (WMA), rejuvenator, and other innovative technologies to maximize both economic and long-term pavement performance.

Pavement assessment, design, and analysis

Our pavement assessment, design, and analysis services help property owners, facility managers, municipalities, commercial clients, and transportation agencies maximize the performance of their pavement assets while minimizing long-term maintenance and rehabilitation costs. We perform comprehensive pavement evaluations, including Pavement Condition Index (PCI) inspections, distress identification, and condition mapping to establish the current condition of pavement infrastructure. Using engineering analysis, traffic loading, material properties, and industry best practices, we estimate remaining service life and develop cost-effective maintenance and rehabilitation strategies tailored to each project's needs.

Our services include condition rating and PCI inspections, remaining service life estimation, preventative maintenance planning, multi-year budget forecasting, repair and rehabilitation design, and structural design and analysis for both new pavement construction and pavement overlays. We also prepare technical specifications and bid documents, perform contractor bid reviews, and provide construction observation to verify that work is completed in accordance with project requirements, engineering standards, and contract specifications. By combining engineering expertise with life-cycle cost analysis, we help clients make informed decisions, prioritize investments, extend pavement service life, and reduce the total cost of ownership of their pavement assets.
